Hi! My name is Steve and I have been designing websites for small businesses for about 10 years now. I have been building websites for myself for much longer than that dating back to about 1998. Back in the early days, it was straight HTML and it was a very laborious process to create a website. Somewhere around 2004, WordPress came along and revolutionized making websites. I didn’t get on board right away. I made the mistake thinking that Blogger.com would be the way to go seeing as how it’s a Google product. After 2 years of not being happy with my rankings on various sites, I moved my business site at the time to WordPress around 2006. I was ranking well within a few months. I moved everything I had from blogger to WordPress and I never looked back.
WordPress is free, it’s elegant, it’s open source, and it’s everything a developer could hope for to create fast, easy to use, less expensive websites for clients in 1/10 the time of the old days. I have all this knowledge from spending thousands of hours using WordPress that I wanted to share it with the world. Why another series on WordPress How To’s? Well, it is hard to find YouTube videos that satisfy 2 requirements. First, videos that are intelligent, helpful, concise, and get you what you are looking for. Second, they are done in such a way as to where you can not only HEAR what the person is saying, but you can clearly SEE what they are doing.
I have seen so many really smart, knowledgeable people make YouTube videos where they show their screen by holding a camera phone and it’s shaking all over the place, or where the audio is so poor, you have to pull on your earlobes to try to hear what they are saying. On the flip-side, there are videos done really well, but by people who are trying to figure it out as they go along, make mistakes, apologize for it, and wasting the viewer’s time. Nothing worse on YouTube then to be taken down a 10 minute rabbit hole only to have the person say, “Oh sorry I did that wrong, let’s try it again”. Why don’t these people EDIT THEIR VIDEOS?
That’s where I hope to come in. Clear, concise, easy to understand step by step instruction that you can both see and hear. But YOU be the judge of that. Let me know how I’m doing! Contact Me here
