How do I avoid getting hacked?
This is a question I do not hear enough … from anyone. Nobody seems to want to take a proactive approach to getting hacked until it’s too late. Then they are VERY interested in avoiding getting their WordPress (or any other) website hacked. So, the absolute number one way to avoid getting hacked is using hard to guess, non dictionary “pass-phrases” with upper case, lower case, numbers, and special characters. But you already knew that, …… Right? And, of course, you are not using the same passwords for multiple logins, …. right?
But, that’s not what this video is about. This video is about keeping all those plugins, themes, and WordPress core files up to date. Did you know that one of the biggest reasons for software updates is to patch security holes? In additoin to added capabilites, software patches are most likely the reason why your software just got updated. That means, they had software, someone hacked it and found a vulnerability, and they patched it. Don’t believe me? Check out the Exploit Database and perhaps you might change your mind.
Anyway, check out the video and see the step by step process you need to take to ensure that your WordPress Website is safe, secure, backed up, and up to date!
