What are WordPress Widgets?
Getting a Beautiful theme is just the start. However, once installed, you might find that your new theme does not look like the beautiful theme layout you just purchased (or got for free, if you selected a free theme). Or you may find that the theme installs with all of the theme “demo” images and content. But, how in the world do you replace this dummy content with your own images and words?
This is where WordPress Widgets come in. Incredibly versatile little divisions of your site are broken up for you called “divs”. Widgets are neat little drag and drop snippets that allow you to add text, images, or code to “pretty up” a blank canvas in each of those divs. The video (below) does a better job of clarifying this.
If you purchase Genesis Themes by StudioPress, they offer incredible step by step directions to show you how to set your theme up just like the sample theme. They also offer a wonderful community to answer questions if you get stuck.
In this video, we follow the StudioPress directions and I record my screen as I go step by step from a boring fresh install to a vibrant, colorful website using the theme’s widgets.
