Social Media’s roll with our WordPress Website
Think of your WordPress website (aka blog) as the hub of the wheel. It is the most important part of the wheel. All your social media profiles (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.) are sitting on the ends of little spokes (think bicycle wheel). These social networks are great for driving traffic to your hub, which is your website. When done correctly (read that – NOT too spammy) the social networks can do a great job of driving traffic to your website. You don’t want to just boast and brag on social media about how great your business is, you need to offer community by helping people. You are the subject matter expert in your field. Share ideas, teach people stuff, have contests, polls, make it entertaining – these are the things that make people want to visit your site. If you do this 80-90% of the time you will have a loyal audience, and if you throw a shameless self-promotion plug in every now and then to remind them what you do, that’s ok, but not the other way around.
How Social Media Helps our WordPress Websites
Social Media is going to help our WordPress websites in two ways. First, we are going to have social media icons that direct traffic to our social media profiles to allow visitors to join our various social media profiles. For example, icon links to Facebook, Twitter, and so on will direct traffic to our Facebook, and Twitter pages, allowing visitors to join those pages.
How Social Media Share Icons Help Our Articles Go Viral
More importantly are the social media share icons that will appear at the end of every one of our posts. This allows people (with just a click or two) to share our content on their social media streams. This can be very beneficial as visitors are promoting your content for you. If one person shares our article on their Facebook page, on average, 130 more people might see our content. If just one of their friends share it, it continues. This is how content goes viral.
This video shows you step by step how to incorporate both types of social media requirements. I have done the research, tested the plugins, and share my favorite plugin that satisfies the requirement of both social media sharing, and linking to social media profiles. Check out the video!
